Tania Heller, M.D., FAAP
Dr. Tania Heller is a board-certified physician, independent educational consultant and author. Through Perlin Heller Seminars, Dr. Heller presents to business leaders, executive leadership teams, and students on Effective Communication. She completed her pediatric residency at Georgetown University Medical Center, and practiced medicine in the Washington Metropolitan area for thirty years, most recently as Medical Director of the Washington Center for Eating Disorders and Adolescent Obesity in Maryland.
As an independent medical school admissions consultant, Dr. Heller consults with college and graduate students on the medical school application process. She also works with students and professionals to enhance their communication and interviewing skills. Dr. Heller hosted an educational pediatric radio program for several years and is an author of six books, including On Becoming a Doctor (Sourcebooks) and You and Your Doctor (McFarland) which focuses on effective communication and the doctor-patient relationship. She also has experience as a medical school applicant interviewer.
Dr. Heller has been a regular speaker at conferences, medical institutions and schools, as well as a Keynote Speaker at leadership events. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) where she also serves on the graduate committee. She has been a resource to both television and print media, including U.S. News & World Report, and News Channel 4 in the Washington D.C. area.
Wendy Perlin M.A. CCC SLP
Wendy Perlin is an educational consultant and speech language pathologist with over 20 years of experience. Through Perlin Heller Seminars, Wendy presents to business leaders, executive leadership teams, and students on Effective Communication. As president of Perlin Consulting, Wendy consults with professionals, as well as, graduate, college, and high school students. She develops thoughtful and effective communicators in the workplace and in academic settings. Wendy guides individuals and groups through interviewing, networking, and crucial conversations with employers and peers. Wendy works for Advocate Aurora Health guiding teams through process change. She is also the Communications Specialist at Wolcott College Prep High School in Chicago. Her experience also includes over a decade of practicing at the Shirley Ryan Abilitylab (formerly the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) where she practiced as a speech language pathologist, conducted research, published, lectured, and supervised graduate students.
She is a frequent panelist, speaker and lecturer, most recently speaking at Northwestern University’s Social Emotional Learning conference. She has served as an editor and researcher on multiple editions of the K & W Guide to Colleges for Students with Learning Differences (Princeton Review). Wendy is a Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She has served as an adjunct lecturer at Northwestern University. Wendy Perlin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, a Master’s Degree in Speech from Northwestern University, and a Certificate with Distinction in College Counseling from UCLA.
